Der Verein MENSCH - UMWELT - TECHNIK (M.U.T.) e.V. hat in Hamburg eine neue
Mailbox eingerichtet.

Dabei handelt es sich nicht um eine gewöhnliche "Mailbox" im herkömmlichen
Sinn, sondern vielmehr um ein "Experimentalsystem", u.a. zur Medienarbeit
im Umweltschutz, z.B. während der Nordseekonferenz. Die UMWELT-Box soll
vielmehr als Server bzw.  Schnittstelle zwischen den Netzen und Umweltgruppen
eingesetzt werden. Geplant ist, den Mailmüll der Netze aufzuarbeiten und in
angereicherter Form an Umweltgruppen weiterzuleiten. Diese sollen über
Terminalversionen angebunden werden, um einen möglichst einfachen
Nachrichtenaustausch zu ermöglichen.

Auch die Netzwerkarbeit der Umweltgruppen soll erleichtert werden indem M.U.T.
ihnen beim Versand ihrer Nachrichten in die Netze hilft. Ein Schwerpunkt wird
neben der Verbindung von bundesweit arbeitenden Gruppen in der Zusammenstellung
von lokalen Umweltmeldungen liegen, die möglicherweise auch als Printmedium
angeboten werden können.

Der Zugang zur Box erfolgt nur nach Absprache mit dem Verein. Es gibt zunächst
keinen Gastzugang, die Nummer der Box wird nur auf Anfrage bekanntgegeben.
Alle weiteren Vereinbarungen werden individuell geregelt.

Ansprechpartner auf der Box ist zunächst der Sysop. Langfristig soll aber eine
dezentralere Boxverwaltung eingerichtet werden. Der Server der Umwelt ist die
DATA-HH.

**** DIALPLUS NEAR YOU ****

GreenNet users in the UK now have an unprecedented selection of
access points for the DIALPLUS  network. It is easier to use
than the old PSS service, allows speeds up to 2400 baud and MNP
error correction. The numbers below cover a large area of the UK
including many places that do not have a local PSS number and
more places will be added shortly. New nodes will be announced
here or you can ring BT's sales office on (UK) 0800 282444 for
the latest information.

DIALPLUS will respond with a welcome screen which will ask for a
password. If you type
GREENNET
that will take you straight through to the GreenNet login
propmpt.

Once you have said 'bye' to GreenNet you will need to type
QU to quit from DIALPLUS

Der Zugang ueber obige Telefonnummer lohnt sich auch von Deutschland aus,
da der Zugang ueber Datex-P mit 2400 Baud auch dann bereits teurer ist,
wenn sich der PAD im Ortsnetz befindet. (Die Volumengebuehren von 0,5 Pf
pro Segment summieren sich auf ca. 1,15 DM - aber 1 Minute GB kosten
per Telefon nur 0,96 DM). Voraussetzung ist natuerlich zuegiges Arbeiten.
